Herefordshire Schools' Task Group

Throughout 2009 the Herefordshire School's Task Group considered the way forward for schools within Herefordshire to ensure we continue to plan for and provide a high quality education system for our young people, that gives them the very best opportunities for their lives in the 21st century and builds upon the excellence and good practice that we already have in our county.  This was deliberated in the context of falling rolls and financial constraints which mean that maintaining the status quo is not an option but at the same time acknowledging the great variety and diversity across the county which needs to be taken into account in any future plans.

In September the Schools' Task Group, made up of School Head Teachers, Governor representatives, local officers and the independent chair, David Brown, produced a paper of recommendations which was then made available for public consultation.  When the consultation was complete the final proposal was presented to Cabinet and agreed at their meeting on November 26th 2009.
