Partnerships and Hubs

Herefordshire Music Service has greatly increased its partnership work over the last couple of years. We are committed to working in collaboration with others for the benefit of Herefordshire’s children and young people.

Our main day to day work means that we have long established partnerships with Local Authority Schools, Academies and Independent schools. You can find more details under ‘Our Work in Schools’ tab.

Herefordshire Music Service is a member of the Federation of Music Services, which is an umbrella organisation supporting and representing over 150 LA Music Services. The service plays an active role in both regional and local FMS meetings and events – particularly the West Midlands Music Services area. In addition to West Midlands Music Services, individual links have been established with Cambridgeshire, Derbyshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Powys colleagues/services.

Following Darren Henley’s review of Music Education (published February 2011), Herefordshire Music Service is establishing itself as the lead organisation of the Herefordshire Music Education Hub. Further details from the DfE are due to be announced in the coming months, but Herefordshire is already well-prepared with our partnerships. Some of these include:

  • Closer working relationship with the Music Pool (Community Music Charity).
  • A bid to become the Joint Lead Organisation for Herefordshire’s SingUp projects
  • Hereford Fantasia. A large-scale partnership project with Hereford Sixth Form College and the English String Orchestra. We are hoping to establish a charity to help fund music lessons for those pupils whose families cannot afford to pay for lessons. Tha charity was launched at a concert on 4th November 2011 at Hereford Cathedral.
