I work solely with hand built porcelain – creating semi-functional pieces. My work addresses the boundaries between function & decoration. It is also very much concerned with the simplicity & beauty of the clay.

I make functional & decorative porcelain, teapots are my speciality. I like my work to be lived with & enjoyed. The pots can explain themselves better than any statement from me.

Potters are generally good cooks, comments Stuart. Potting is rather like cooking, choose the right ingredients, keep it simple & be generous. Stuart's hand thrown, highfired porcelain gets the recipe right - a joy to handle straight from oven to table.

Tableware & gently distorted vases or vessel forms in porcelain & stoneware clays. Each piece is made on the wheel and high-fired in a gas kiln. Influenced by oriental ceramics & 'fifties' design; classic blue celadon glazes with modern colourants.

I throw porcelain vessels enriched by oxides and slips which explore my fascination with coastlines. The base of my pots carry the undulating marks left by the sea on sand. The forms are references to the landmarks of my childhood.
