Ceramics Exhibitors 2011

Stripe vessel and relief vessel

I work solely with hand built porcelain – creating semi-functional pieces. My work addresses the boundaries between function & decoration. It is also very much concerned with the simplicity & beauty of the clay.

The Crocodile

Vibrant, colourful wall mounted mosaics of birds and other creatures. Handmade using stained glass, tiles, recycled ceramics and millefiori.

Bridget Drakeford - Porcelain Lidded Jar with Silver Knob

I make functional & decorative porcelain, teapots are my speciality. I like my work to be lived with & enjoyed. The pots can explain themselves better than any statement from me.

Ken makes a wide range of functional ceramics ranging from mugs and bowls to vases and platters. Each piece is hand built using slabs of clay and is then decorated with strong graphic pattern using hand cut stencils.

Coastal Vessel

My work responds to light, colour & texture observed in coastal landscapes & environments. Forms are produced by thrown & hand-built techniques. Surfaces are developed by applying coloured engobes overpainted with transparent glazes & fired to 1120c.

Square Dish

Jennifer has developed a comprehensive range of pots which enliven the daily rituals of taking nourishment. Jennifer’s pots don’t challenge but comfort & enrich food times for people who live to eat not eat to live.

Spikey Vessels

I have a specific interest in complex surface structures, which act as a catalyst for my work. Using a traditional slip casting process with intricate sprigging and incised detail, with stain and glaze decoration.

Lady with bird

Fine ceramics and delicate glass forms inspired by Victoriana, vintage textiles, old photographs and memories.

Brown Blossom

Ceramic Patchwork - a hand stitch process which reworks silk fabrics and revives discarded ceramics to create decorative vessels with a new tactile aesthetic.

Group of jugs

Potters are generally good cooks, comments Stuart. Potting is rather like cooking, choose the right ingredients, keep it simple & be generous. Stuart's hand thrown, highfired porcelain gets the recipe right - a joy to handle straight from oven to table.

Espresso mugs and bowls - porcelain

Tableware & gently distorted vases or vessel forms in porcelain & stoneware clays. Each piece is made on the wheel and high-fired in a gas kiln. Influenced by oriental ceramics & 'fifties' design; classic blue celadon glazes with modern colourants.

Couple with bocage

A continuous diary of humour, sentiment and vulnerability illustrating a personal journey that many can identify with.

Ian Swithenbank

Having always been attracted to natural surroundings and organic surfaces, the hand built ceramic forms I create embody the varied surfaces and textures of the landscape around us. I use a variety of techniques often with surprising results.

Jewels Williams

I throw porcelain vessels enriched by oxides and slips which explore my fascination with coastlines. The base of my pots carry the undulating marks left by the sea on sand. The forms are references to the landmarks of my childhood.
