Heritage services celebrate 150 years of railways

150 years ago on 6 December 1853, Hereford City witnessed huge celebrations to mark the completion of the rail link from the Severn to the Mersey.

The 150th Anniversary is being celebrated this weekend, 6-7 December 2003, with a whole range of special events.

Herefordshire Council Heritage Services is joining in with an exhibition on railways in Hereford that will run until the end of January 2004 at the museum on Broad Street.

Come and see if you can read the world’s smallest railway timetable produced for Queen Mary’s dollhouse, and admire the ceremonial spade used to cut the first sod.

Heritage Services would like to thank the many museums and people from Herefordshire who have loaned items for the exhibition.
