Herefordshire Council Parks, Countryside & Leisure Development Service is pleased to announce that the children’s play area at The Grange in Leominster has re-opened in time for the Christmas holidays, following the completion of substantial refurbishment.
The play area, which had been in a poor state of repair because of extensive use and some vandalism, has received wide ranging improvements funded by the Herefordshire Council Parks, Countryside & Leisure Development Service in partnership with Surestart.
Geoff Dimbylow, Herefordshire Council Special Projects Officer, said: “We are really pleased that this play area is open again so that the children of Leominster can enjoy it over Christmas.
“It now has lots of new pieces of play equipment including two ‘springies’, a set of junior and senior swings, a wooden play train and a multi-use infant play unit.
“All these have been installed together with special safety surfacing to ensure the play area meets European Safety Standards.
“We also hope to add to the facilities for older children in the New Year by installing a basket ball post and net just outside the play area.”
Other improvements at the play area include a perimeter of galvanised fencing with self-closing pedestrian gates and dog grids along with special vehicle access gates for authorised maintenance vehicles.
The area has also been resurfaced with ‘bitmac’ to give a smooth finish and a footpath has been laid to link the play area to Leominster Millennium Garden.
New picnic benches and seats have also been installed so why not pack those turkey sandwiches and visit The Grange during the school holidays for lots of fun on this new facility?
