Facelift for Leominster Car Park

Broad Street Car Park in Leominster is set to receive a make-over thanks to a scheme developed by the Town Centre Regeneration Forum Amenities Group, in partnership with Herefordshire Council and Herefordshire Nature Trust.

The work, to start on February 10, will enhance the appearance of the car park, which is popular with tourists and near both the historic Leominster Priory and the River Kenwater.

Colin Meneaud, Herefordshire Council Parks Officer (County), said: “The existing raised shrub beds will be demolished and a more visually-interesting scheme will be installed that has been designed by local Landscape Architect Peter Quinn.

“The new scheme will incorporate trees and shrubs to give interest at different levels.”

Funding for the work has been secured through the Leominster Single Regeneration Budget, Leader and Rivers Programme and the Herefordshire Council.

Mike Thornhill, Chair of the Regeneration Company and member of the Amenities Group, said: “This is one of a range of projects, which the Amenities Group has initiated in recent years. We have a range of environmental improvements planned to help enhance this key public open space within the town centre.

“We hope to make the car park a more pleasant place for residents and visitors and contribute towards the overall regeneration of the town.”

The work will be done by Sodexho Landscape Technology and should be completed within approximately four weeks.

The project may cause some inconvenience to users of the car park and the Council wishes to thank the public in advance for their patience.
