Hunt for Easter eggs at the Heritage Centre

11 March 2005

Ross Heritage Centre will be holding its usual Activity Day for the Easter Holidays on Thursday, March 31.  Children and adults of all ages can drop in, for free, between 10.30am and 1pm for a few hours of fun.

Children must be accompanied, so why not ask grandma or granddad, auntie or uncle to come along as well?  The more the merrier.  They can all have some fun and have a go at un-scrambling the quiz questions with you.

There will be an Easter Egg Hunt with a Quiz, as well as a chance to make something crafty.  The eggs will be hidden around the gallery and will depict Characters from History.

Can you find King Henry the Egg-th, Queen Egg-lizabeth the First or even William Scramble-speare?  These are just a few of the many characters that will be Frying-in for the day.

There will be a quiz for all relating to the eggy characters.

When you have had a go at that, there will be an opportunity to have a go at making something crafty, linked in with the Easter theme. The staff are looking for awful eggy jokes – so please think some up and bring them along with you at the same time. You can crack them up with these whilst you are being crafty.

The “School Days” exhibition continues until the end of the month. This has once again proved to be very popular, but the photographs will have to be taken down to make way for the April exhibition.

However, if anyone has photographs they feel may be used for the future, please do remember to bring them in. It is hoped to be able to repeat the exhibition again in a couple of year’s time. There is still plenty of new material out there that can be used.

As usual, the centre will be open all over Easter, including Easter Sunday.  Times of opening will be 10.30am to 4pm with a break for lunch from 1pm to 1.30pm. From Maundy Thursday to Easter Monday there will be a chance to purchase books and gifts at a 10% reduction.  This will be for the holiday weekend only, but does not include the many charitable and crafty items for sale, which are very reasonably priced at all times.

For details on the above and for other enquiries please contact the centre during opening times or telephone (01432) 260675. From April 1 the centre will be open for summer hours – Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm and Sundays 10.30am to 4pm. The usual lunchtime closure will take place between 1pm and 1.30pm if there is no relief staff available to cover.
