A Finds Road Show, where possible “archaeological treasures” can be brought along for identification, is just one of the activities on offer during Archaeology Week in Herefordshire.
Walks, talks and educational activities are part of regional and national events starting on Monday, July 14, and continuing until Sunday July 20.
Experts will be on hand on Friday - at The Finds Roadshow at Ross Heritage Centre – to date and identify people’s mystery objects.
Keith Ray, County Archaeologist, said: “If you have ever wondered about the strange looking stone found in a box in grandfather's attic now is the chance to get it identified.
“Who knows, it might have come from Herefordshire.”
The week starts with a Landscape Master-Class at Kington Community Hall where people can learn about monument surveying techniques.
The Family Quiz on Saturday, July 19, will test your knowledge of Castle Green and the Cathedral precinct with prizes for correct answers to be drawn out of the hat.
The brainteaser is on from 10.30am to 3pm and you can collect a quiz sheet from Victoria Bridge, at Bishops Meadow.
The weekend activities are part of National Archaeology Days being held in conjunction with the Council for British Archaeology and include a display of Geophysics and a Family Quiz.
