If you have ever wondered what your local woodland looked like in the past then why not visit Queenswood Country Park on Tuesday, 15 July, for a walk and talk with Herefordshire Archaeology.
‘Queenswood: The Changing Face of a Herefordshire Woodland’ will help you explore the popular beauty spot and discover it’s darker industrial past, discussing and interpreting archaeological features that relate to past woodland management and communication systems.
The guided walk, which will take place from 2pm to 5pm, has been organised by Herefordshire Archaeology in partnership with the Parks & Countryside Service as one of Herefordshire’s events in the lead up to National Archaeology Day and in order to help celebrate Queenswood’s Golden Jubilee.
James Bisset, Herefordshire Council’s Countryside Officer, said: “Herefordshire Archaeology recently surveyed Dinmore Hill and could tell us a wealth of information about its history so this walk really is a must.
“Dips and bumps across the hill that we have always taken for granted have been identified as various structures from the past – it’s truly fascinating!”
The event is free but places are limited so please book in advance by contacting Herefordshire Council Parks & Countryside Service on 01568 798320
