READY STEADY DIG! - NATIONAL ARCHAEOLOGY DAY EVENT

The county museums service, Heritage Services, is digging the dirt in Leominster on Saturday, July 17, for National Archaeology days.

The outreach event will have loads of fun activities for budding amateur archaeologists from across Herefordshire.

At The Grange, in Leominster, between 11am and 3pm, people can dig in a “sand pit” excavation and then record and draw their findings!

Visitors to the event can also bring in their own archaeological discoveries and have them identified by Herefordshire’s new Finds Liaison Officer, Peter Reavill.

Peter Reavill said: “I can’t wait to see what people bring in for me to identify; at an open event like this literally anything could turn up!”

Visitors will also have the chance to dig a skeleton, reveal the bones and try and piece together the story of the person!

Creative people can make archaeological prints; inspired by real museum objects and dress up in Civil War costume.

This fun packed day is free to all and will be a great day out for families and individuals alike.
