LEOMINSTER ACCESS ROAD

Motorists are being advised of the following traffic control/movements on the A44/A49 during the next two weeks:

Sat 10th July - Southern Avenue will be closed up to M&M Sports for surface laying 7.30am-6pm.

Diversion signs will be put up along with a special sign identifying new M&M Sports premises for the debut open day in new premises.

Monday 12th July to Friday 16th July - A49 will have 24hr traffic lights at the new/old roundabout to lay road surface on the new A44/49 roundabout and tie-ins.

Thursday 22nd July - New section of Road from Eaton Bridge (A44) to Southern Avenue (via New Rail Bridge) opens as follows:

The road will be opened to traffic between the A49 roundabout over the new bridge to Southern Avenue and River Lugg to the A49.

Temporary traffic signals will be used at Eaton Bridge on A44 while the works are completed.

Simultaneously, the A49 to the Southern Ave turn-off over the old bridge A44 section into the town and the A44 section from the A49 to the Eaton bridge will close to traffic.

Temporary traffic signals will also be used at the junction of Worcester Road and Southern Avenue while the works are completed here.

Traffic wanting to turn in from the old A49 roundabout to the town will be directed to the new A44.

This changeover will be conducted at approximately 6am in advance of the morning peak hour to minimise delay and confusion.

You may notice an increase in lorry movements on the A49 during the next two weeks as these surfacing works are carried out.

The contract is on programme and is due to be substantially complete by the middle of August.

Unfortunately there will be disruptions to traffic, but motorists are being urged to leave more time for their journey and follow signs which will direct them through the works.
