An inspection report published yesterday, Thursday, July 22, looking into the service provided by the Council for older people, confirmed that the Council has promising prospects for improvement.
The Council’s Cabinet heard that important service developments had already started in services to support older people in maintaining and enhancing their independence.
Older people will see a significant improvement in the range, choice and quality of services.
Cabinet member, Cllr Olwyn Barnet, said: “This is a very positive report demonstrating the Council’s commitment to improving services. We will need continued investment to improve quality and choice”.
Sue Fiennes (Director of Social Care & Strategic Housing), said: “Staff working with older people in Herefordshire have made efforts to change what they do to create a modern service that older people can value.
“Changing services does take time and needs to be carefully explained to service users and cares so they understand.
“This report shows that we are dealing with service change well, even though there are disruptions and that having, choice and staying at home are going in the right direction”.
