TRAFFIC SHIFTING ON LEOMINSTER ACCESS ROAD

Work is progressing to construct the new access road to Leominster Industrial Estate.

In the last few weeks, Herefordshire Council's main contractor, Mowlem has been working on the new trunk road roundabout and the new rail bridge.

From mid- April, trunk road traffic has been running on the east side of the new carriageway with little disruption.

From Monday 17 May, 2004, for approximately one week, 24-hour two-way temporary traffic lights will be erected on the trunk road just to the south of the new roundabout.

This will allow surfacing works to be carried out at sections where space is constrained.

Once complete, the lights will be removed and traffic will then travel on the newly constructed carriageway to the west of the trunk road. Every effort will be taken to minimise delay.

Works at the new rail bridge are also continuing and the abutment walls either side of the railway are now complete.

The contract is on programme and is due to be substantially complete by the middle of August.

Regular updates will be given in the press of new traffic management arrangements.
