November at the Ross Market House Heritage Centre

Once again the Market House Heritage Centre in Ross is bringing visitors and local people alike a varied programme with interest for all ages.

It’s a great time to buy those cards and presents for Christmas and we’ve just received new stocks of gifts and stocking fillers for this year. Prices are to suit all pockets!

Mary Sinclair Powell, Senior Heritage Assistant, said: “ We are, and will be, stocking copies of newly released local books, as well as those well known titles such as The Story of Ross which are ideal for Christmas and Birthday presents.”

Working with the “Buy early for Christmas” theme, Rose Cottage Crafts will be bringing in hand-made Christmas cards, gifts and jewellery for sale from Friday 31st October and Saturday 1st November.

Mary added: “You could take this opportunity to make your own earrings, under guidance, or with the help of a friend.

“As well, you can find out how to make Christmas cards from those you received last year.

“Cards for Good Causes” sell their Charity Cards each year within the town.

“This year we are privileged to have them with us.

“You will be able to buy all your cards, wrapping paper and calendars, to support your own preferred charity, from Monday 10th November until Saturday 13th December inclusive.”

The opening hours will be within the hours of the Heritage Centre as below. We will not be closing for lunch during these weeks.

Friday 14th November sees the return of the very popular local art exhibition “Secret Ross – Part II”.

Following on from the very successful exhibition with us last year, Doug Eaton, Jeremy Whitehouse and friends have got together, once again.

They will be displaying and selling their work, which is related to those parts of Ross you do not normally see.

The exhibition will remain in the Centre until Saturday 29th November. Some time during this exhibition, the Centre will be holding a late night opening until 7pm.

No date has yet been fixed, as it is hoped to coincide with the switching on of the Christmas Lights.

Please keep an eye on the local press and the notice boards in the Market House.

These late night openings give an opportunity to those who cannot get in to view the exhibition during working hours, to do so without the pressure of watching the clock.

Details of all exhibitions and events (and changes to such) are advertised at the Heritage Centre and in the Library and Tourist Office.

Further details, as always, on all forthcoming events and exhibitions at the Heritage Centre can be obtained by calling in or telephoning 01432 260675 during opening hours (10.30am to 4pm Monday to Saturday from November to March – excluding special late night events)

We are closed Sundays until April. We normally close for lunch between 1pm and 1.30pm daily.
