Organisers of arts events and festivals should get along to Left Bank Village in Hereford on Thursday, November 27, to find out all there is to know about how to successfully manage an arts festival.
The Forum for Festival and Events Organisers is designed to support arts events by offering up-to-date information on promotion, management and provides the chance to network, develop skills and contacts.
Deborah Allison, Arts Liaison Officer, said: “The Festival and Events Forum is an annual event and is now in its sixth year.
“It’s an excellent opportunity for people in Herefordshire, who enjoy making arts events of all scales happen in their locality, to meet and develop their skills and contacts.
“Volunteer or professional, beginner or experienced - all are welcome!'”
The Forum will be chaired by Peter Arscott, Chair of the Creative Industries Collaborative.
Key speakers are Mike Layward - Artistic Director of Disability Arts in Shropshire (DASh) and Sue Bott, Chief Officer of Shropshire Disability Consortium.
Mike and Sue will present 'Who's Afraid of the DDA?' covering the background to the Disability Rights Movement and how the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) developed.
As well, they will look at the relevant areas of the DDA for arts organisations, audiences, employers and artists.
Groups will have the opportunity to look at the DDA in terms of their publicity, marketing, programming and access.
Clare Wichbold, MBE, Regeneration Officer (Project Development) for the Herefordshire Partnership will present 'Everything you wanted to know about grants but were afraid to ask...'
Clare will talk about the funding available through the Partnership and other local grant-giving bodies, and the wider picture for the region.
The Forum is on from 10am to 1pm (arrival from 9.30am) at the River Room, Left Bank Village, Bridge Street
The forum costs £5 per person and places must be booked.
