A Free Breakfast And Great Environmental Business

A free seminar, ‘Introduction to Environmental Legislation’, will be held to help local businesses understand current and forthcoming environmental legislation.

The free seminar will be held on 26 November at Hereford Racecourse, 8am – 10am, a free breakfast will be offered to everyone attending.

This seminar has been organised by the ‘Bridge-it Partnership, Herefordshire’, a newly established partnership including Herefordshire Council, Business Link Herefordshire & Worcestershire, Environment Agency, Business In The Community, and Groundwork Trust.

‘Bridge-it’ is designed to help companies comply with environmental legislation, save money and be more efficient and sustainable.

“Without knowledge or access to environmental information services, companies may leave themselves open to prosecution,” said Katherine Jones, Herefordshire Council’s Economic Investment Development Officer.

“This free seminar will give local businesses a practical guide to how to comply with environmental legislation,” she added.

Another seminar ‘Introduction to Environmental Management’ will be held on 4 February, 8am – 10am, Hereford Racecourse, free admission and breakfast.

The Bridge-it Partnership is also offering more than 70% subsidy for environmental services to qualifying businesses throughout Herefordshire.

‘Bridge-it Partnership, Herefordshire’ is part of the ‘Bridge-it’ programme across the whole of the West Midlands run by Groundwork Birmingham, an environmental regeneration charity.

New regulations governing oil storage will be one of the areas of environmental legislation covered at the seminars.

These new regulations, which are being introduced in three stages, could seriously affect the way local businesses work, warns Herefordshire Council’s Economic Development Team.

Any business that stores 200 litres (equivalent to one drum) or greater of oil, other than waste oil, above ground are likely to be affected by the introduction of the Control of Pollution Regulations 2001.
