Sure Start Learning Weekend

Family Learning Weekend takes place on the 10 to 12 October 2003, and to mark this national event, headed by the Campaign for Learning, there will be a range of activities happening across Herefordshire.

Sure Start Leominster and Kington will be holding two events in north Herefordshire for families with children under the age of four but families with older children are welcome too!

“We shall be holding two events with a variety of fun activities for the family to enjoy and learn together,” said Paula Daniels event organiser.

“We've managed to secure funding from the Learning and Skills Council through Herefordshire Council to help run the days.

“You won’t be able to miss the events as the Sure Start bus – the S.S. Explorer, will be parked outside each venue.

“Families can come along and take part in the workshops and quizzes on healthy lunch box ideas, seed gathering, different ways of communicating, crafts, healthy lifestyles and much more.

“We will have giveaways, and refreshments will also be on offer.

“And all this is free!

“There will also be an opportunity for families to give their views on local services.

“We need these views to inform and improve local services.”

The first event is on Friday, 10th October at the Baptist Church in Etnam Street Leominster, then on Saturday 11th October at Kington Youth Centre.

Both events start at 10am and finish at 3pm and families can just drop in at any time.
