Working in partnership for the people of Herefordshire

Ross Heritage Centre

October at the Ross Market House Heritage Centre is once again a varied programme with lots of interest for all ages and it’s the perfect time to start buying those cards and presents for Christmas.

Lea Friday Painters continue the sale and exhibition of their work until Monday 6th October. The exhibition features paintings to suit all tastes. It’s an annual event for the Lea Painters and once again is proving very popular.

Tony Avery is a very well known local artist, who sells and exhibits his work internationally. He tutors local painters and his students have put together their first exhibition at The Heritage Centre opening on Friday, 10th October and continuing until Monday, 27th October.

The Heritage Centre will be open until 7pm on Friday, 24th October, for those unable to visit during normal office hours.

Meanwhile, Broadband has come to Ross and to celebrate BT are exhibiting some of their archive materials in the Heritage Centre.

Old telephones and telephone books will be part of this unique display, which starts on Wednesday 22nd and continues through November.

Come along and see if you can find old friends and relatives in the listings available. Do you recognise the old phones you used to have? Do you still have one?

The event is organised by the Chamber of Commerce and BT and there’ll be something of interest for everyone.

Also, a half-term Activity Day for the younger generation and the young at heart will be held on Tuesday 28th October.

“Drawing Grannie’s Bloomers” is part of the Big Draw, which happens every year. As usual this is a free drop-in activity from 11am to 12.20pm and from 1.30pm to 3pm. (No need to book.)

Finally, Rose Cottage Crafts will be selling Hand-made Christmas cards, gifts and jewellery from October 31 until November 1.

Details of all exhibitions and events (and changes to such) are advertised at the Market House Heritage Centre, High Street, Ross-on-Wye, and in the Library and Tourist Office.
