What ever your faith, colour or creed you are invited to a very special service on Tuesday, 23 September.
It will be exactly one year since a tree was planted to commemorate the life and death of Anne Frank.
To mark the anniversary, candle lit prayers will be held by the Anne Frank apple tree in the Unity Gardens, Ledbury Road, Hereford.
The simple ceremony which will begin at 6pm, is open to all, and prayers will be delivered by the Christian, Jewish and Muslim communities.
When the tree was planted last year, a commemorative service was conducted by the Dean of Hereford, but this anniversary is particularly appropriate, because the Anne Frank Exhibition opens at the Cathedral the following week.
The service aims to remember all those who have suffered persecution for their beliefs, discrimination due to their colour or race or abuse for belonging to a minority group.
Neville Meredith, Race Equality Development Officer for Herefordshire, said: “The Unity Gardens is the perfect venue for bringing together people from all cultures and faiths.
“We want to take this opportunity to pray both for those who have suffered and also to pray for a future where we can all live in harmony, without fear of persecution”.
Further information about the ceremony may be obtained from the Anne Frank project team, on 01432 373310.
