If you’ve ever wanted to turn over a new leaf or start a new chapter in your life, there’s never been a better time to do so with increased opening hours at Herefordshire’s libraries.
Five county libraries are now open until 7.30pm on at least two days a week – which means it’s ideal if you want to pop in and either drop off a book or pick up a good read on your way home from work.
The new opening hours begin tomorrow, Tuesday September 7, and mark the continued development of this essential service.
Some of the county's libraries have invested significantly in new staff and training in order to be able to open for an increased amount of time.
Hereford, Leominster, Ross, Ledbury and Colwall libraries represent the first phase of the new era and will benefit from the extended new opening hours.
Mark Warren, Head of Customer Services and Libraries, said: "Our commitment is to make all our services much more accessible to the people of Herefordshire.
“We want the people who currently cannot access libraries to have more opportunities to do so and part of this is to extend the opening hours, particularly in the evenings, when more people are able to visit."
The new changes are different at each library – details of the extended opening hours can be found on the Council’s libraries website – www.libraries.herefordshire.gov.uk - and leaflets detailing the new opening hours are also available from the libraries.
