NHS Herefordshire is encouraging families in Ross on Wye to get out their walking boots, sketch pads and cameras and join in a walk around the scenic areas of the historic market town this weekend (23 January).
The walk is between 30-60 minutes long and is part of the Change4Life programme, which aims to get families eating well and moving more.
Lead by a health trainer from NHS Herefordshire, the walk takes place on Saturday 23 January, and begins at the Larrupez Centre car park at 10.30am. The route will follow the river, and offers plenty of opportunities for keen artists and photographers to sketch and snap along the way. Some sturdy waterproof footwear is recommended.
Lisa Purslow, healthy lifestyle co-ordinator, said: “This is the second of many walks we have planned across the county over the next few weeks.
“We live in a beautiful county and walking is a great way of getting active and giving everyone a chance to get some fresh air, hopefully enjoying some of the abundant wildlife we have. You don’t have to be fit to join in – everyone can take it at their own pace. Best of all, it’s free and encourages families to spend some quality time together.”
Anyone interested in joining the walk should meet in the car park at the Larrupez Centre at 10.30am. After the walk, families are invited into the centre where there will be lots of information about healthy eating and activities, as well as plenty of people to talk to about how families can make changes to their lifestyle.
