The walk is around 30 minutes long and is part of the change4life programme, which aims to get families eating well and moving more. Lead by a health trainer from NHS Herefordshire, the walk which takes place on Saturday 16 January, will begin at the Hinton Community Centre, Hereford at 10.30am and will cover King George V playing fields and the Hinton area. There will be a “Spot the Street” contest on the walk as well as some snowy fun (if there’s any left!). Walking boots are not required, but some sturdy waterproof footwear is recommended.
Lisa Purslow, healthy lifestyle co-ordinator, said: “This is the first of many walks we have planned across the county over the next few weeks.
“We live in a beautiful county and walking is a great way of getting active and giving everyone a chance to get some fresh air, hopefully enjoying some of the abundant wildlife we have. You don’t have to be fit to join in – everyone can take it at their own pace. Best of all, it’s free and encourages families to spend some quality time together.”
Anyone interested in joining the walk should meet in the car park at Hinton Community Centre at 10.30am. After the walk, families are invited into the community centre where there will be loads of information about healthy eating and activities, as well as plenty of people to talk to about how you can help make changes to your family’s lifestyle.
