Groups and organisations running community buildings across Herefordshire who wish to improve their facilities could benefit from a grant being offered by the Council.
Herefordshire Council’s community regeneration team has a community buildings grant scheme to help towards the cost of the refurbishment and improvement of community halls.
There are three elements to the grant scheme:
- A capital grant that offers up to £15,000 or 25 per cent of eligible project costs whichever is the lesser
- An improvements grant that offers up to £2,000 or 50 per cent of project costs whichever is the lesser
- A feasibility grant that offers up to £2,000 or 50 per cent of project costs whichever is the lesser.
During a recent round of the grant a number of community halls in the county benefited for a variety of purposes, including: New insulation at Almeley village hall, an energy audit at Dilwyn, new internal fire doors at Dorstone community hall, a feasibility study for a new hall at Peterchurch and kitchen improvements at Dinedor.
The closing date for the next round of the grant scheme is 4.30pm on Monday, January 25 2010.
Recently completed projects include; new build at Cusop, reorganisation of the church to use for early years provision and community use at St Peters Church at Peterchurch, reorganisation of the church into a new home for the community shop and a community space at Yarpole, refurbishment of halls at Bosbury and Little Hereford and reordering of the church into a community space at Peterstow.
