Aimed to link in with the national Big Draw event which aims to encourage more people to take up drawing, the events are being held at the Museum Resource and Learning Centre in Hereford, Ross Heritage Centre and Ledbury Heritage Centre.
Families can be inspired by skeletons and skulls and the bones of prehistoric creatures from Hereford Museum’s collections.
On display for inspiration will be bones from King Arthur’s Cave near Symond’s Yat, including hyena, ox and rhino bones, and artist Adrian Higgins will be on hand to help families create beautiful pictures from a bag of old bones.
At the Museum Resource and Learning Centre, there is the added attraction of a bone expert who will invite families to be bone detectives and to find out what old bones can tell us about the past. Visitors can also take a peak behind the scenes to see where all the bones are cared for.
The events are being held on:
Tuesday, October 27, 11am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3pm - Ross Heritage Centre
Thursday, October 29, 11am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3pm – Museum Resource and Learning Centre, Friars Street, Hereford
Friday, October 30, 10.30am to noon and 1pm to 2.30pm, Ledbury Heritage Centre.
There are also some free drop-in activities but booking is necessary for the drawing activities. Call 01432 260692 for Hereford and Ledbury events and 01432 260675 for Ross.
