Herefordshire Council is offering Ledbury residents the chance to get their archaeological finds identified at a special event being held during the October half-term.
Ledbury Heritage Centre is the venue for the event on Tuesday, October 27 between 1pm and 3pm, and people are welcome to bring along any items they want identified.
Peter Reavill, Herefordshire’s Finds Liaison Officer, will be able to identify anything from coins to jewellery and bullets to farming equipment which either metal detectorists or amateur archaeologists have found.
Ledbury Heritage Centre is also joining the national Big Draw event on Friday, October 30 from 10.30am until noon and 1pm until 2.30pm when youngsters will have a chance to sketch a skeleton.
Councillor Adrian Blackshaw, Herefordshire Council’s cabinet member for economic development and community services, said: “Our museums have a wealth of expertise and artefacts and this event offers a fun way for people to try their hand at drawing. The Big Draw aims to show that everyone can draw and, by providing a fun topic, hopefully many local residents will join in.”
