Herefordshire Council is to look into options for providing extra parking spaces in Ledbury to make up for those that will be lost when new facilities, including a library, are built next to the Master’s House.
Paul Nicholas, assistant director of environment and culture, said: “As a council, we are still very much committed to the St Katherine’s Project going ahead but do accept the concerns about the loss of parking spaces.
“I have met with a working group of the Town Council that includes trader and other representation. They have come up with some interesting ideas on how extra parking spaces might be provided.
“I have committed to report back to the group within two months but will, where possible, let the group know if we make any decision in the meantime. I hope we can continue working together for the good of Ledbury as a whole. While we accept the need to keep and attract shoppers, we also desperately need new facilities to replace the present ones,” he added.
