Herefordshire Council is celebrating the official opening of a new children's centre which delivers its services from the heart of one the market town communities.
Ledbury children's centre is a purpose-built centre set within the grounds of Ledbury Primary School. The children's centre delivers services not only from the centre but out in the community working closely with local schools.
To celebrate the official opening of the centre, a big fun-filled open day will be held on December 17th so that families and carers can learn about the services the Ledbury Children's Centre can offer in their local community.
In the build up to Christmas, the open day will give families and children the opportunity to join in some festive actives, enjoy a guest appearance from Father Christmas and gather lots of useful information about forthcoming events and services.
The day begins at 10am with story telling, songs and rhymes from Carol Graham followed by lots of art and craft activities which will take place all day.
Santa and his assistant Elf will arrive to meet some of the children and families and Herefordshire Council's cabinet member for children and young people, Councillor Jenny Hyde and Ledbury Town's Mayor Keith Francis will officially open the centre at 11am. Bill the bell town crier will make sure no one misses any of the events by making announcements in his own special way and Ledbury and Eastnor school choir will sing Christmas carols.
Councillor Jenny Hyde, cabinet member for children and young people, said: "I am delighted to be opening this new centre formally. I remember looking around it when it was just a shell of a building, and it was pretty impressive then. I am looking forward to seeing it being fully utilised and hope the children and families of Ledbury enjoy the wonderful facilities and services being provided for them."
