Herefordshire Council is inviting the public to have their say on the use of signs on the county's highways.
Councillor Brian Wilcox, Herefordshire Council's cabinet member for highways and transportation, said: "The council wishes to support local community events and encourage the economic viability of the county by helping traders and businesses to promote their enterprises.
"In recent years, however, it is important to balance this
aspiration with the need to minimise clutter which can be spoil the
countryside.
"We want to draw up a new policy for these signs that strike the
right balance and I hope the public will take the opportunity to
have their say," he added.
Herefordshire Council has drawn up two draft guidance notes on a future policy for advertising boards and signs and can be viewed as part of the online consultation >>
The closing date for comments on the guidance notes is January 9, 2009, and any comments should be either posted online or sent to Stewart Barton, Herefordshire Council, PO Box 4, Plough Lane, Hereford, HR4 OXH, or email sbarton@herefordshire.gov.uk
