Special Energy Efficiency Scheme now open to all private homeowners over 60s

24 November 2008

Herefordshire Council is extending its Special Energy Efficiency Scheme (SEES) to all private homeowners and private tenants aged 60 plus.

The scheme, which provides funding for energy efficiency improvements such as insulation and draught proofing and heating controls, is available to anyone over 60, regardless of income.

Councillor Phil Cutter, Herefordshire Council's energy champion, said: "With fuel prices at their highest level for some years together with the credit crunch adding further pressure on people's incomes, we have decided to extend this scheme to all over 60s.

"I would urge anyone who is struggling with their bills to take advantage of this scheme. There is only limited funding so as always it will operate on a first come, first served basis," he added.

Anyone interested in applying for one of the £500 grants should contact Domestic and General Insulation, who this year operate as partner with the council, telephone 0844 543 0043.
