24 November 2008

Herefordshire Council has prosecuted a man who claimed council tax benefit but failed to declare he had more than £16,000 in a bank account.

Colin Richardson, 65, of Stanberrow Road, Hereford, admitted three charges of benefit fraud and was overpaid £3,416 but this sum has since been paid off.

He was fined £290, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and to pay £200 costs.
