Planning permission for a building to house an animal incinerator at Lyonshall, near Kington, was approved by members of the northern area planning sub-committee at their meeting on Wednesday, November 19.
The building at Litfield House will be used to contain an existing animal incinerator and for the transfer and storage of clinical waste and waste photographic fixer and developer.
A pet cemetery adjoins the property to the north.
Members of the northern area planning sub-committee undertook a site visit on November 4, 2008.
The Environment Agency (EA) and environmental health officers have investigated a number of complaints about odour and smoke at the site but the current incinerator is compliant.
The application was to erect a building to replace one destroyed by fire.
Lyonshall Parish Council was opposed to any expansion of activities on the site and felt the proposed finish for the building was unacceptable.
One letter of objection was received concerned at smell nuisance and feeling the facility was better suited to an industrial estate.
