Planning permission for two detached homes to be built at New Street, Ledbury, were approved by members of the northern area planning sub-committee at their meeting on Wednesday, November 19.
The existing property, Elm Cottage, has been demolished and a new access will serve the two new homes.
Herefordshire Council's transport manager said the proposed access was acceptable.
Herefordshire Council's conservation manager had no objection to demolishing Elm Cottage and recommended the two homes be built fronting New Street to reflect the character of the area.
Ledbury Town Council felt the scheme should be approved but without the new access.
Objection letters were received from seven residents concerned at drainage problems, safety of the proposed new access and wanting Elm Cottage to be preserved.
A letter of support for the plan was also received.
