Heritage Services’ annual involvement in the national campaign for drawing’s “Big Draw” event, which takes place in October, is happening on a large scale this year!
With funding from Persil, sponsors of the Big Draw, Heritage services are putting on a series of eight drawing activity days across Herefordshire this autumn half term (October 23rd-30th).
Aimed at budding artists of all ages from 4 to 80, anyone interested is invited to turn up at “Our Town” events happening across Herefordshire in Hereford, Ledbury, Ross and Bromyard.
These events will showcase art and historic photographs from the Museums Service’s collections, which illustrate how Hereford city and the three market towns have looked through the ages.
Participants will use these images to inspire their own artistic interpretation of buildings and their town through the ages, or perhaps you remember buildings and places that are no longer there? Take this opportunity to return your favourite buildings into the landscape of Our Town.
These buildings will then be added to a giant townscape which will be created during the workshops and displayed at each venue.
You will have the opportunity to put yourself into the picture by dressing up in costume from times past: from the 1480’s to the 1980’s and drawing each other in this costume and adding yourself to the “Our town” collage.
These artistic activities will make use of a wide range of art materials from traditional paints and pastels to raw ochre and glitter, allowing you to make use of whatever material you prefer!
Just turn up and drop in between 10.30am and 3pm each day: free goody bag for each participant.
