Young people at Ledbury youth centre are organising their second Red Ribbon Ball to raise awareness for World Aids Day.
The Ball will take place on Friday 28th November from 8-11.45pm at Ledbury Community Centre, Ledbury and is for under-18 year olds (strictly no adults!) Local bands making an appearance include the Dandelion Killers and We do Kung Fu.
Funded by a vcashpoint grant, the ball is being organised by local teenager Jenny Hallam and young people from Ledbury with support from Herefordshire Council's youth service and Ledbury Youth First. Entrance is free, although to help make sure numbers are catered for, tickets are required. These are available from Ledbury Youth centre, Ledbury Youth First and through John Masefield High School office at lunchtimes.
Pippa Hart, Herfordshire Council community youth worker, said: "Building on a successful event last year, one of our youth club members put in a bid to run the event again this year.
"More than 150 attended the gig in 2007 making voluntary contributions and fundraising £500 for world aids day. The young people have put in an incredible amount of work organising the event - hopefully this year will be even more successful than last year.
Jenny and her band will also be performing to help raise awareness of aids and sexual health issues. She commented: "The response to the Red Ribbon Ball has been overwhelming following last year's great success. I wanted to be able to make a difference and create a positive event for young people."
