It's back due to popular demand - Herefordshire Council's successful Christmas Saturday Park and Ride service is back again to offer shoppers free and easy parking during one of Hereford's busiest times of the year.
Shoppers can choose free parking at two sites in the outskirts of Hereford, and enjoy a comfortable bus ride for a nominal fare to the heart of the busy town centre.
This year a new site is being used at the north of the city at Hereford Racecourse, off Roman Road, but the southern site is the usual one on the A49 (Ross Road) at Grafton.
The service offers a "door to door" service from your car to the city centre shops, saving motorists the stress of searching for a parking spot and driving through congested streets.
The northern service drops shoppers off at Shire Hall while the southern service will take passengers to Broad Street.
Park and Ride 2008 will operate every Saturday from November 15 until December 20.
Buses will run every 15 minutes, starting at 9am, with the last return bus leaving the city centre at 5.55pm to Grafton and 6pm to the Racecourse.
Fares are £1.50 for an adult return and £3 for a group of three or more adults travelling together.
Councillor Brian Wilcox, Herefordshire Council's cabinet member for highways and transportation, said: "Park and ride is an important part of the council's sustainable transport initiatives aimed at tackling traffic congestion.
"It also makes the whole experience of shopping at this busy time of year far more pleasant with people not having the stress of searching for a parking place or overstaying their time and getting a ticket," he added.
Security staff will patrol both sites on the six Saturdays to ensure cars are secure.
