An important review of Herefordshire’s Courtyard Centre for the Arts is now underway.
The review which was announced in July began last Friday, October 15, when members of the review group visited the Courtyard to view its facilities.
The review group comprises four members of Herefordshire Council’s Social & Economic Development Scrutiny Committee, Cllr Harry Bramer, Cllr Sylvia Daniels, Cllr John Guthrie and Cllr John Stone.
Over the course of the review the group will hear evidence from a host of experts, user groups and stakeholders. They are also inviting written statements from the public, asking for comments and views on the facility.
“An important part of the review will be to hear the views of members of the public on the Courtyard.”
said Cllr John Stone, Chairman of the Review Group.
“The Council is a key financial contributor to The Courtyard and we are keen to examine the benefits it offers as an arts facility and to the wider community.”
The Review Group will interview representatives from The Courtyard, the Arts Council and other key organisations who will be invited to make presentations and answer questions from members of the group.
“We welcome the review and look forward to the opportunity to be able to highlight the work and projects that we are involved in,
said Martyn Green Chief Executive of the Courtyard.
“The Courtyard has an exciting future, we are involved in a wide array of projects and the Arts Centre has become a real hub for the arts throughout the region and is home to many other local arts organisations as well.”
The initial seven year funding agreement between Herefordshire Council and The Courtyard comes to an end in March 2005, and the Council is currently engaged with the Courtyard in planning for future arrangements.

Recommendations will then be passed onto the Cabinet Member for Community and Social Development for him to decide what action to take.
