HALF TERM FUN WITH WILDPLAY

Don’t play indoors this half term – get outside whatever the weather and discover the wild wonders of Autumn by joining a free WildPlay event!

Lily Horseman and Jo Polack of Herefordshire Nature Trust WildPlay Project have organised three sessions during half term week.

· ‘Tree Spirits and Tree Dressing’ at Queenswood Country Park, 11am – 2pm, Tuesday 26 October,
· ‘Apples are A-peeling’ at The Grange in Leominster, 2pm – 4pm, Wednesday 27 October
· ‘Take a bus to the woods’ at Newton Coppice, Hereford, 10am – 12pm, Thursday 28 October

‘Tree Spirits and Tree Dressing’ - if the trees had faces what would they be like? Lily and Jo will show you how to give your favourite tree a spirit and celebrate the beauty of trees by making decorations out of fallen autumn leaves.

‘Apples are A-peeling’, this workshop will hold a longest apple peel competition and will show you how to carve apple pigs and make spooky apple heads!

‘Take a bus to the woods’ has been specially arranged to coincide with public transport as there are no parking spaces available.

Take the 449 bus from the Country Bus Station at 9.55am or catch it from Tesco Belmont at 10.04am and you’ll be met at the bus stop opposite Belmont Abbey.

Come along and celebrate the beauty of the autumn trees by making natural decorations out of fallen leaves to take home.

These sessions have been specially organised in partnership with Herefordshire Council Parks, Countryside & Leisure Development Service to bring WildPlay into the County’s parks.

Lily Horseman, WildPlay Officer said “We’ve got some great ideas for things you can do outside in the Autumn!

“All events are free – and there is no need to book, just turn up and join in! Please remember to wear sensible shoes and clothing just in case the weather isn’t great.”

At these drop in ‘family’ WildPlay sessions all children MUST be accompanied by an adult to join in with the games and activities and ensure the safety of their child.
