Following the overwhelming response to the Mission Impossible and Rotter campaigns launched earlier this year, the waste minimisation team at Herefordshire Council has decided to undertake a number of composting clinics in association with WRAP (the Waste Resources and Action Programme).
The Composting Clinics are to be held at a number of different locations across Herefordshire in October and November 2004 and are free, drop-in events open to all members of the public.
A WRAP home composting advisor will be on hand at each event and will give a presentation on home composting every half hour.
The composting clinics are designed to provide support and advice to anyone who has bought a compost bin, or who is thinking of buying a compost bin, and who needs further help with their composting.
Andrew Tector, Head of Environmental Health & Trading Standards, said: “We hope that by offering this free help and advice that more people will begin and continue to compost, and in turn reduce their household waste.
“Although composting can be relatively easy to do, there are some ‘tricks of the trade’ that composting experts can share with ‘novices’ or people experiencing difficulties.
“It’s worth sparing a few minutes that may save hours of frustration and ultimately provide garden-worthy compost,” he added.
Advice on alternative waste reducing methods such as Green Cones, Wormeries and other eco-accessories will also be available at all venues.
The “clinics” will be held at:
· St Peter's Church Hall - Hereford city centre – Monday, October 11, 3-7pm
· Queenswood Country Park, Herefordshire – Thursday, October 14, 3-7pm
· Larruperz Centre, Ross-On-Wye – Tuesday, October 26, 3-7pm
· Holy Trinity Church Hall, Ledbury – Wednesday, October 27, 3-7pm
