Herefordshire Council will be installing temporary traffic lights on the mini-roundabout at the top of Aylestone Hill, Hereford, to allow Transco to deal with a major gas leak.
The gas leak was reported this morning (October 28) and Transco need the traffic controls so their workers are able to safely explore the cause and repair it.
Clive Hall, Herefordshire Council's network manager, said: "Work will not start until after 6pm tonight and Transco have promised to work around the clock to deal with the gas leak and I would ask motorists to bear with the inconvenience while this essential work is carried out and find an alternative route."
