Herefordshire Council’s museum to focus on county sporting heroes

27 October 2008

Herefordshire Council's Learning Team want to hear from county residents with Olympic connections, past present or future to help them prepare next year's Museum on the Move exhibition.

Sarah Skelton, Herefordshire Council community heritage officer, said: "Herefordshire and Shropshire Heritage Services are creating an exhibition all about the how the modern Olympics started in Much Wenlock in Shropshire and what it means for us today.

"We want Herefordians to share their own Olympic connections with us. Perhaps they have a friend or relative who achieved success in the past or perhaps they are involved with training future hopefuls.

"The exhibition will run from April 2009 to April 2010 and celebrates the Cultural Olympiad.

"We would also like to hear from companies who are going to be involved with the Olympics," she added.

Anyone who has a story to tell should contact Sarah Skelton or Elizabeth Pimblett on 01432 383383 or email HerefordMuseums@herefordshire.gov.uk
