Held at Kingstone Sports Hall, a 12 week training course is being run by a Herefordshire FA level 3 coach for boys aged 13-19. Traditionally there has been some rivalry between the two groups of football players, but now the boys have the chance to put their differences to one side and learn some football skills which could gain them AQA awards as well.
The football players from Madley worked with community youth worker, Sarah Melia to apply for the funding themselves, as part of a youth project run by Herefordshire Council's community youth service.
The funding has been approved by the Herefordshire Youth Funding Panel which is made up of young people from across the county. The panel is responsible for allocating funding to set up youth-led projects and activities for themselves and their peers.
The football coaching is free, and although the course has started, newcomers are still welcome to the sessions which will be running Wednesdays from 7-9pm until December.
