Ross traders welcome new way forward on planning

23 September 2008

Traders in Ross have welcomed the flexibility the Local Development Framework will offer in finding future sites for both businesses and housing.

Councillor John Jarvis, Herefordshire Council's cabinet member for the environment and strategic housing, met with members of Ross Chamber of Trade on Wednesday, September 17, and heard their views on what business requires and needs to move into the town.

Councillor Jarvis said: "Traders felt the tightness of the existing Unitary Development Plan is not helping them to find building sites either for business or housing.

"We had a very constructive meeting and the traders were very supportive of the consultation carried out to develop our Local Development Framework, which will replace the UDP.

"Traders said the new document will offer them far more flexibility in finding suitable sites to attract businesses into the town," he added.
