Six houses at Llangrove refused

18 September 2008

Planning permission for six detached houses at the rear of Hazlenut Cottage, Llangrove, Ross-on-Wye was refused by members of the southern area planning sub-committee at their meeting on Wednesday, September 17.

The application was deferred at the meeting on August 20 to enable members to undertake a site visit which was carried out on September 2.

Permission was refused because it was felt the plans were out of scale and would lead to over development.

Outline planning permission was granted in September 2004 for residential development on the site and this specified the number of homes allowed to be six.

The associated reserved matters submission was approved on April 30, 2008 and gave approval for three detached homes, a pair of semis and a bungalow.

This full planning application sought permission for the erection of six larger detached houses. First floor balconies were proposed at four of the homes, designed to incorporate privacy screens to ensure neighbours were not overlooked.

Llangrove Parish Council objected because of the overall size of the proposed houses and concern at the intrusiveness of the balconies.

Five letters of objection were received concerned at the density of the houses and the affect the balconies would have on privacy.
