Amey Consulting has been commissioned to carry out initial design work on a proposed permanent park and ride facility at Hereford Racecourse.
This site has been selected after considering several sites in
the area and is intended to serve traffic entering the city, mainly
from the north, although some Roman Road [west] traffic may also be
attracted.

It is planned to open the park and ride facility in 2010. The
facility will initially accommodate up to 250 vehicles but may be
extended as demand increases. There will also be a purpose-built
waiting area. Entrance to the site will be via a remodelled
junction off the A4103 (Roman Road).
The need for the city to have permanent park and ride facilities
was highlighted in Herefordshire Council's Local Transport Plan 2
and Unitary Development Plan.
Letters and leaflets have been sent to 2,200 residents and businesses in the Racecourse area asking for their comments on the proposals for the park and ride facility.
People can also have their say on the proposals through an online consultation on Herefordshire Council's website http://www.herefordshire.gov.uk/
Anyone wishing to comment on the proposals should write to: Freepost RLSE-HHZC-XTUG, Public Transport, Herefordshire Council, The Cider Mills, Plough Lane, Hereford HR4 0LE before the consultation closing date of Tuesday, September 30.
Councillor Brian Wilcox, Herefordshire Council's cabinet member for highways and transportation, said: "I would urge everyone interested in finding out more about the park and ride proposals to come along to the public exhibition where they will be able to get any questions answered.
"I would also urge people to make their views known to us, either in writing or by using the online facility. All of the comments will be fully considered and amendments made where necessary," he added.
