The work, which will be ongoing throughout the month of August, is carried out to ensure safety on the county's roads.
Grass is cut on highway verges, visibility splays and lines of sight around bends. Each main cut is with a mower and then the work is completed by strimming.
The council recognises the importance of bio-diversity and has designated twenty roadside nature reserve sites throughout the county, which will not be cut. These areas of verge have particularly important varieties of plant and, in partnership with Herefordshire Nature Trust, they are managed to preserve the flora.
