Students in the four Herefordshire schools with sixth forms have achieved impressive results this year. Both John Kyrle High School and John Masefield High School – the two largest high school sixth forms – achieved their best ever results with John Kyrle achieving 99 percent and John Masefield achieving 98 percent pass rates compared to the national figure of 97.2 percent. Both schools also showed improvements in the total average points score achieved by students. John Masefield High School recorded 25.6 percent grade A passes, close to the national figure of 25.9 percent.
Students at Lady Hawkins High School achieved 100 percent pass rate with again an improved average point score on the previous year, while students in the smallest sixth form at The Minster College performed generally above their targets and expectations in reaching a 92 percent pass rate.
All schools can celebrate many instances of individual successes. Several students have achieved three grade A passes and the majority have gained places at their first choice university. Results at A/S level across the schools are also very good.
Paul Murray, Secondary School Improvement Manager for Herefordshire commented: “I want to offer my congratulations on behalf of Children’s Services to all the students, their teachers and head teachers for their excellent results - we acknowledge the hard work and commitment it has taken to achieve them”.
