Plans for a two storey extension to Oak House Nursery School, Brampton Abbotts, Ross-on-Wye, were approved by members of the southern area planning sub-committee at their meeting on Wednesday, July 23.
This application was deferred at the last meeting on June 25 to enable members to hold a site visit. Members also wanted details of a travel plan and alternative parking arrangements.
The extension is to provide a baby room and lobby on the ground floor with a staff/therapy rooms at first floor level.
Herefordshire Council’s traffic manager had no objection, subject to conditions.
The council’s children and family information service manager said the nursery was a food quality day care centre and its provision for children with special needs is always welcomed.
Brampton Abbotts and Foy Group Parish Council opposed the scheme because of concerns over increased traffic.
Objections were also received from three residents concerned at loss of privacy, overdevelopment of the site and increased traffic. Another resident wrote in expressing concern at parking.
A resident also wrote in support of the application saying the nursery is outstanding and provides excellent care for children.
The applicant has since supplied a travel plan and it was made one of the conditions of planning consent that this is adhered to.
