Road closures in the Wigmore and Adforton area have been arranged to allow Welsh Water to carry out essential maintenance works.
The works will be carried out in two phases, each lasting around three weeks.
Phase 1 on the A4110, which started today (Monday July 21), will mean closing the road at Wigmore from its junction with Castle Street/Ford Street to a point outside Wigmore Cemetery.
Phase two will start three weeks later and will involve closing the A4110 at Adforton from its junction with the C1017 to Elton Road and to its junction with Letton Lane, Adforton.
The alternative route for those affected by the proposal is via B4362 A4110 Wigmore to Mortimers Cross Road – B4362 Mortimers Cross to Woofferton Road – A49 Woodderton to Bromfield (trunk road) – A4113 Bromfield to Leintwardine – A4110 Leintwardine to Adforton and vice versa.
During phase two, a 7.5 ton weight limit will be in place on the U92206 Leintwardine to Paytoe Hall (Paytoe Lane). There will also be a one-way order on the U92206 Leintwardine to Paytoe Hall (Paytoe Lane) allowing traffic to travel from Leintwardine to Paytoe Hall.
We have spoken to local residents to mitigate any inconvenience caused by the essential works in the area.
It is not possible for the works to go ahead without the road closures because of the danger it would pose to the workmen.
We will monitor the impact of these road closures and will continue to work to, wherever possible, minimise the inconvenience caused. We thank all those in the locality who have assisted us in the preparations for these essential works.
