Three of Herefordshire’s largest employers have worked together to ensure essential repair works on a Hereford road can go ahead.
Herefordshire Council’s highways department is to carry out extensive repair works to Poultry Lane, Hereford, towards the end of August.
This has involved close working with two of the county’s other largest employers – Sun Valley Foods (now Cargills) and Bulmers (now Scottish and Newcastle).
Poultry Lane is the main access for deliveries to Sun Valley Foods and the council has liaised with the company over the timing of the works.
Bulmers has given permission for the Sun Valley delivery vehicles to use another entrance off Yazor Road.
Works to be carried out on Poultry Lane involve extensive patch repair work and this will mean excavations of 10 to 18 inches deep and involving a full width resurface.
As the road width is limited, works could not have been carried out unless agreement was reached to close the road.
Herefordshire Council has placed an official road closure on Poultry Lane and it is anticipated the works will take up to five days to complete.
